The Advantages of Chain Link vs Wooden Fences

Residential fencing

One of the first things that people will see when looking at your home is the fence in front of it. It is the first thing that your family and friends will pass through as they make their way into your yard and home. Fences for homes should have some aesthetic quality, but their purpose is mostly functional, so you should keep your needs in mind when you are choosing your fence.

Two of the most popular types of fences for homes are chain link fences and wooden fences. The main benefit of having a wooden fence is that it offers maximum privacy for your yard and house. If you live in a cramped area or just have really nosy neighbors, a tall wooden fence keeps those prying eyes off of your family while you’re trying to have a good time. Furthermore, wooden fences are significantly harder to climb than other types of fences, so the hoodlums won’t use your yard as their favorite shortcut. If you do opt for a wooden fence, you should make sure that you take care of it by raking leaves and other debris away to avoid rot, unless you opt for pressure treated wood which costs about 10 dollars per piece.

A chain link fence offers less privacy than a wooden fence, but allow you to have a more open space outdoors rather than being confined. They are perhaps less visually appealing, but are generally a good option for people who want to have a more open yard. Furthermore, if you’re the type who likes climbing over fences or having people climb over your fences, a chain link fence has all of the foot holds you need.
