How to Prevent Your Car from Rotting

Carport

Not everyone can afford a garage. That is why many people, with the space on their property to do so, are turning to carports instead of building putting up entire garage buildings. For those who are not familiar with metal carports, they are metal garages which do not always reach the ground, but which keep the weather off of a vehicle.

This is important to a lot of Americans. Approximately 7 percent of Americans own a recreational vehicle. Carports can also be used for boats. Recreational sales of boats increased by six percent to 32.3 billion USD in 2011 and Americans own somewhere around 18 million recreational boats.

Car ports can be environmentally friendly. Most of them are made out of sheets of steel which is known as the “EnviroMetal” because it is recycled endlessly with no loss to quality. Millions of Americans recycle steel every year in North America. Some estimates suggest that as many as 80 million tons of steel are recycled every year.

This does not mean that car ports can be widely used or implemented everywhere. There are some places where there is no room to put up a carports. For example, if the owner of the vehicle is renting a house, it might not be possible to set up a carport on the property. If a car owner lives in New York City, it might not be possible to find a place to park the car that will keep the weather off.

Nonetheless, it is always a good idea for people who own cars to find a place to park them when that is available. Keeping the weather off of a car is one of the best ways to ensure that it will not be rotted out because of snow. Building a carport may not be the only solution, but for many people it is part of a broader solution.
