3 Things to Look for in a Plumbing Service

Plumbing services

When you hire a licensed plumber, you are trusting someone to come into your home and help you fix an issue. There are certain criteria that someone providing those services should meet, including but not limited to professionalism, emergency services, and prior estimates. To get the best results with a plumbing service, be sure to do some research and ask around about your options. Check out our other tips on how you can choose a great plumber!

Professionalism

This seems like a given, but you would be surprised at what consumers will put up with for a low price or quick fix. However, you cannot be fooled by low prices and/or quick fixes, because they likely aren’t legitimate and they won’t last long. The plumbers you work with should be professional and courteous, with no exceptions.

Emergency Plumbing Services

The licensed plumber that you choose should be able to provide emergency services if needed. Faucets are responsible for about 15% of water use in homes, while 30% of water use is attributed to toilets. Leaving those repairs unfixed will cost homeowners an extra 10% on their water bills. So ideally, you want someone who is available to fix things as soon as possible. They should also be available in cases where your home is actually in danger due to leaks or pipe bursts.

Prior Estimate

You should always ask a licensed plumber how much they believe the repairs will cost before they actually begin working. Most plumbing repairs are straightforward, so they should be able to tell you how much they believe it will cost. While that estimate may slightly change over the course of the repair, if they won’t even give you an estimate, that should be a red flag to look elsewhere for help.
